Nigeria Security Tracker Weekly Update: April 22 - April 28

 Weekly update on incidents of violence in Nigeria.

Below is a visualization and description of some of the most significant incidents of political violence in Nigeria from April 22 to April 28, 2017. This update also represents violence related to Boko Haram in Cameroon, Chad, and Niger. These incidents will be included in the Nigeria Security Tracker.

 

 

 

  • April 22: Gunmen killed a police inspector in Idemili North, Anambra.

Boko Haram

  • April 23: Sectarian violence led to twenty deaths in Itu, Akwa Ibom.
  • April 23: Militants killed three policemen and one other in Ogun Waterside, Ogun.
  • April 24: One suicide bomber detonated and killed herself and two others were shot and killed before they could detonate in Jere, Borno. Boko Haram is suspected.
  • April 24: A suicide bomber killed himself and three others in Maiduguri, Borno. Boko Haram is suspected.
  • April 24: A suicide bomber killed herself with no other casualties in Maiduguri, Borno. Boko Haram is suspected.
  • April 26: Four suicide bombers killed themselves and one CJTF member in Maiduguri, Borno. Boko Haram is suspected.
  • April 26: A suicide bomber killed himself and one CJTF member in Mafa, Borno. Boko Haram is suspected.
  • April 27: Nigerian soldiers killed fifteen Boko Haram militants in Gwoza, Borno.
  • April 27: A suicide bomber killed himself and five soldiers in Damboa, Borno. Boko Haram is suspected.
