About the Project

Today, the U.S. is confronted by terrorist threats both foreign and internal. As the U.S.-led war on terrorism enters its third decade, a better understanding of the lessons learned and not learned over the past twenty years is needed. The intention of this roundtable series, accordingly, is to review the progress to date in the global war on terrorism and assess efforts to counter domestic terrorism; identify what new strategies or new combinations of approaches might help to decisively address both of these challenges; and, to better understand the costs and tradeoffs imposed on U.S. national security, foreign policy, and domestic priorities by the ongoing prosecution of these terrorist threats. These discussions will be held in both Washington, DC and New York and will result in a series of articles, opinion pieces, and other analytical products capturing the key points and conclusions that emerge from these discussions.
